Wayward Strand is a heartfelt and empathetic story game made up of a variety of distinct threads. They all are played out at the same time on an airborne medical facility in the 1970s Australia.
With Wayward Strand you play as Casey Beaumaris, a teenage patient who visits Hospital for the very first time. Over the course of three days, Casey will examine the story of the ship, its daily lives of the inhabitants and how they relate to their fellow passengers.
On board, she’ll be able explore the bedrooms of the ship’s eccentric and lovely residents. She’ll be able to pick who she wants to spend her time with as well as get acquainted with them. You can shadow staff members as they walk around the ship, or you could explore the vessel to discover its dark past.
The patients at the hospital comprise unpredictably diverse that are all charming, some odd, others rude, all with their own needs, goals and imaginations. They can do whatever they want, completely independent of the character of the patient.
In the three days Casey spends aboard the ship in the ship, the people around her have their own lives to tell and stories that she could investigate. Every single character is able to act and move according to their own timetable. They share stories, news, opinions or joking around, or simply having a chat with Casey.
