The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

An antiquarian Thomasina Bateman is writing a book on the barrows of England and is documenting her discoveries of treasures inside. An intriguing letter calls her to the tiny village of Bewlay hidden in the remote countryside she sets off by train and her assistant to leave one day late.
The mysterious man that summoned her for help was not present at her arrival. Her assistant never arrives. The landowner is obstinate in refusing access to the barrow and the locals are wary of the woman who’s going on her own, in her own vehicle and (gasp!) wears trousers.
The excavation of Hob’s Barrow is off to rough beginning. Thomasina begins to have strange nightmares…
